Russia adds 1.3 million ounces of gold to it's reserves in October.  

Trading volume on Wednesday was 861,275 contracts - the highest in CME Gold history.      

So much for breaking out - that was very short lived. That is now the fifth attempt to break the long term resistance that was met with failure. With the USD & Bond Yields heading higher there will be pressure on gold to head lower.

Gold's rise in foreign currencies since the year 2000 - by majors & by region

Impressive moves up in the gold price in the major gold producing nations.

Comex Gold registered stocks fall to new lows causing the Owners Per Ounce metric to rise to new extreme highs.

It is my contention that the Dow/Gold Ratio has just topped out in its uptrend & is soon to head down to new lows (perhaps down to 2:1 or 1:1)

Since 2002 the trend has been to store Registered gold at COMEX - with over 8.5 million ounces have been stockpiled there.

Here's a good example of why gold is not trading freely in today's markets.

Imports = 119 tonnes  Exports = 108 tonnes

Be it that we are now seeing a top in stocks & a low in gold then I postulate that the Dow/Gold ratio now has the potential to run down to new lows in a similar fashion to 1977-1980.
