The 2024 coin’s reverse portrays a large kangaroo about to jump over a parched creek bed. The 2024 1oz Australian Kangaroo is the first Perth Mint coin bearing the effigy of King Charles III, created by Welsh illustrator and coin designer Dan Thorne. The official portrait of His Majesty is supplemented with the inscription ‘CHARLES III’, ‘AUSTRALIA’, along with the monetary denomination ‘100 DOLLARS’. 

For additional peace of mind, the Australian Gold Kangaroo coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable only under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
